The SmartEIZ round table named “New issues relevant for Smart Specialisation Strategy in European ‘periphery’ countries” was held in Dubrovnik on October 26, 2018 within the SINCERE Conference.
In line with recommendations of the Steering Committee and the Advisory Board given during 4th meeting, focus of the SmrtEIZ round table was on the research that had passed through training within the SmartEIZ project, and its impact on the Smart Specialisation Strategy in the near future.
Programme of the round table included four presentations. In the first presentation Marina Tkalec presented findings on the impact of war and occupation on firms’ performance outcomes in Croatia. Elena Cefis in her presentation spoke about the influence of innovation that includes digital technologies on firms’ survival through the crisis. Dubravka Jurlina Alibegović spoke about the Smart City model in Croatia, whereas Ivana Rašić Bakarić tackled the topic “The impact of cluster networking in the Croatian Wood Cluster“. 27 participants, both researchers from Croatia and other European countries, attended the round table. It is worth mentioning that the presentation on issues of war and productivity in Croatia draw considerable attention of the audience.
